Edris Ison

Edris “Jean” Ison, age 87, of Brooks, passed away December 6, 2022.

Jean was born in Baxley, Georgia on December 29, 1934 to the late Wildon Rentz and Myrtice Hutto. She was a longtime resident of Brooks. Jean worked at Mask and Gay in Brooks for many years, until she relocated and retired from Georgia Industry For The Blind. Jean enjoyed crocheting, attending church, and video chatting with her friends and family via Facebook (Meta). She was a “mother” to anyone in need.  She provided a safe haven for many as her door was always open.  Jean will be remembered as a loving mother, sister, aunt and Nana.

 

Along with her parents, Jean was preceded in death by her husband: James C. Ison, Jr. “J.C.”; sisters: Orlee Hart, Liallian Lightsey, Betty Gardner and Lucy Dixon; brothers: Ralph Rentz and Henry Rentz.

 

She is survived by her daughter: Judy Cochran of Griffin; grandchildren: Christian Faith Durham, Sydney Grace Cochran, Bowen James Cochran and Bailey Lynn Cochran; brother and sister-in-law: C.W. and Linda Rentz of Surrency; and many nieces and nephews.

 

A funeral service will be held at 2 PM on Friday, December, 9th at Moody-Daniel Funeral Home. Friends may visit the family beginning at 1 PM at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Brooks City Cemetery.
