Mrs. Emily Ann Hancock, age 93, of Evans and formerly of Thomaston, entered into rest Thursday, December 8, 2022, at her residence.
Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Hancock will be held on Monday, December 12, at 12:30 PM in the Bethany Church Cemetery on Delray Road. Rev. Ted Kandler will officiate. The family will receive friends at Fletcher-Day Funeral Home from 11:00 AM until 12:00 PM on Monday.
Mrs. Hancock was born in The Rock, Georgia, on August 8, 1929, the daughter of the late Durward Gaines Holloway and the late Blanche Gardner Holloway. Mrs. Hancock was employed by the Upson County School System and the Gwinnett County School System as a teacher. She was later employed as a kindergarten teacher with Wesleyan United Methodist Church in Gwinnett County until her retirement. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Thomaston and attended several other Baptist churches during her life.
Mrs. Hancock is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Dane and Cindy Hancock of Lincolnton; two grandchildren and their spouse, Benjamin Hancock and Lara H. and Scott Johnson; and three great grandchildren, Haley, Natalee and Tanner Johnson.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hancock was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Marshall Elwood Hancock. Contributions in memory of Mrs. Hancock may be made to the First Baptist Church Foundation, 208 South Church Street, Thomaston, GA 30286.
