Mr. William H. "Billy" Thomas, Jr., age 87, of Thomaston, died Tuesday evening, October 18, 2022, at his residence.
Funeral services for Mr. Thomas will be held on Friday, October 21, at 3:00 PM, in the chapel of Fletcher-Day Funeral Home with Rev. Jason Weeks officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 2:00 until the service hour.
Mr. Thomas was born in Thomaston on March 5, 1935, to the late William H. Thomas, Sr. and Mildred Baldwin Thomas. He was a 1953 graduate of R. E. Lee Institute and attended Georgia Tech. Mr. Thomas was employed for thirty-seven years by B. F. Goodrich Martha Mills where he was superintendent of the weave department. Mr. Thomas was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church. He was a devoted father, grandfather, friend, and Christian.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Thomas was preceded in death by a daughter, Nancy Thomas, and a brother Bobby Thomas. He is survived by two daughters: Lynne (Kenny) Brown and Kay (Joe) Denby, both of Thomaston; two sons: Russ (Bethany) Thomas of Sharpsburg, GA, and Ken Thomas of Thomaston; a sister: Charlotte Cromer of Thomaston; seven grandchildren: Joshua (Sam) Hambrick, Jonathan (Michelle) Smith, Lindsey (Matt) Gordy, Kaci (Bruce) Mims, Chris Thomas, Hannah Rosenhack, and Corey Thomas; five great grandchildren: Zack Gooden, Easton Mims, Jett Gordy, Emmarie Mims, and Bray Gordy; and one great great grandchild, Everlee Gooden. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
