Mrs. Ruth Turner Rogers, 96, of Thomaston, died Thursday, October 6, 2022, at her residence. Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Rogers will be held Saturday, October 8, at 2:00 PM, in South View Cemetery. Rev. Paul Caspers and Mr. Bill Morgan will officiate. The family will receive friends at Fletcher-Day Funeral Home on Saturday from 1:00 until 2:00 PM.
Mrs. Rogers was born on December 8, 1925, in Pike County to the late Marion Bernice Turner and Beulah Cummings Turner. She was self employed as a hairdresser for many years. Mrs. Rogers was a member of the Red Hatters Club and the Homemakers Club. She enjoyed crafting, sewing, and gardening. Mrs. Rogers was a member of Silvertown Baptist Church where she participated in the Happy Hearts Seniors Group and the Seniors Choir.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Rogers was preceded in death by her husbands, James Donald Rogers and Bill Coker, and two brothers Cecil Turner and Dolphus Turner. She is survived by two daughters: Gail (Ferrell) Lee of Reynolds, GA, and Sherryl Mitchell (Glenn Busbee) of Covington, GA; four grandchildren: Donnie (Robin) Mitchell of Covington, GA; Christie Phillips of Covington, GA; Keven Lee of Augusta, GA; and Justin (Kristy) Lee of Reynolds, GA; five great grandchildren: Kennedy Phillips of Covington, GA, Morgan Phillips of Covington, GA, Isaac Lee of Reynolds, GA, Ashlyn Lee of Reynolds, GA, and Jadden Albero of Reynolds, GA. Many nieces and nephews also survive.
In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make memorial contributions to Thomaston Hospice Foundation, 512 S. Center St., Thomaston, GA 30286, or to the American Heart Association, 5962 Zebulon Rd., PMB 359, Macon, GA 31210.
