Linda Rebecca Smith Lester

Mrs. Linda Rebecca Smith Lester, age 72, of Zebulon, passed away November 12, 2023.  Linda grew up in Griffin, daughter of the late Cecil and Josephine Smith. She graduated from Griffin High School in 1970.  In her younger years, she attended First Wesleyan Church in Griffin, where she met her husband, Jim.  Linda worked for Delta Airlines for 19 years before retiring as a supervisor. She loved the Lord and was an active member of Rock Springs Church.  For seven years, she volunteered at Jabbock Ministries in Milner, where she ministered to the hurting from the reception desk. Linda enjoyed traveling, reading and Mexican food.  She was an avid Alabama football fan. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, and friend. Her greatest desire was that her family and friends knew the Lord.  

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Peggy Clines, father-in-law and mother-in-law, Jimmy and Bebe Lester and brother-in-law Glenn Miller.

 

She is survived by her husband of 53 years: Jim Lester; daughter and son-in-law: Jennifer and Scott Ferguson of Ashford, AL; sisters and brothers-in-law: Brenda and David Shofman of Canton, Charlotte and Ken Peeples of Griffin and Joann and David Norton of Zebulon; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Judy Miller, Bobbie and Sam Jamison and Katrina and Roger Studdard all of AL, Henry and Ginger Lester and John and Kim Lester all of Byron; many nieces and nephews.

 

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, November 18, 2023, at 2 p.m., at Rock Springs Church, 219 Rock Springs Rd., Milner.  Dr. Benny Tate will officiate.

 

Friends may visit the family on Saturday, from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m., at the church.
