First Lady Rosalynn Smith Carter

Former First Lady Rosalynn Smith Carter, age 96, of Plains, Georgia, wife of former President Jimmy Carter, died at her home in Plains, on Sunday afternoon, November 19, 2023. 

A register book will be available for signing at Fletcher-Day Funeral Home until Monday, December 4. Following the services, the book will be forwarded to the Carter family. 

 

President Carter and Mrs. Carter were the only presidential couple from the state of Georgia. They were also the longest married presidential couple with a marriage lasting 77 years. 

 

Mrs. Carter, we thank you for your years of public service and devotion to your family, state, and country.
