Mr. Emmitt Valgean Yeoman, also known as “Shorty and PawPaw,” age 74, of Meanville, passed away July 24, 2023. He grew up in St. Augustine, FL, son of the late Emmit Valgean Yeoman, Sr., and Lucille Elizabeth Edmonson Yeoman. For most of his life, Shorty was an automobile mechanic. While living in Florida, he worked for Shatila and Sons for many years. In 1984, he moved to Griffin where he lived for two years before moving to Pike County. He worked at Ed’s Carburetor and Ignition in Griffin. Later in life, he became a truck driver and worked for C. T. Harris.
Shorty enjoyed fishing, playing pool, working in his yard, and dirt track racing. He drove the #0 (N0 Problem) Chevy Chevelle. He was known for working hard, and never complaining about anything. Shorty always had the same answer for everything. He always said, “No Problem.” He was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers and a sister, Leslie, Bill, Dickie, and Little Sharon.
He is survived by his wife of 17 years: Julie Yeoman; daughters: Elizabeth Michele Yeoman Baillargeon (Lon), and Tammy Yeoman Riggins; step-son: William “Chop” Hubbard; step-daughters: Cricket Bradley and Katrina Hubbard; grandchildren: Rayann Teal, Kasey Leigh Salter, Courtney Reneé Salter, Lorna Crom, Matt Martin and Austin Hubbard; brothers and a sister: Phillip Yeoman, Danny Yeoman, Johnny Yeoman (Margaret), and Martha Yeoman; many great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, and friends.
Friends may visit the family on Wednesday, July 26, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 27, at 2 p.m., in the chapel of Moody-Daniel Funeral Home with Pastor James D. Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in Moody Memorial Gardens in Zebulon.
