Walter Kenneth “Ken” Hudson Sr

Walter Kenneth “Ken” Hudson Sr., also known as Paw Paw, age 80, of Zebulon, entered into the arms of Jesus on March, 23, 2023.

Ken was born February 20, 1943, in Atlanta, Georgia. He loved sports, particularly baseball, and played ball as long as his body allowed. He loved watching his children and grandchildren in their sports endeavors. He was the best Paw Paw and spent countless hours at the baseball field and on the road for travel ball. Ken was an Army veteran and served in Vietnam. He retired from General Motors. Ken had a wicked funny sense of humor and could always be counted on to make you laugh. He had a vast network of friends and acquaintances and never met a stranger. When he met someone he could play the “six degrees” game and always found a connection.

His advice to his children and grandchildren is through his favorite sayings: “You can’t hoot with the owls at night and fly with the eagles in the daytime.” His daddy passed on to Ken, “It’s your little red wagon, you can push it or pull it.”

Ken was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Walter Lowe and Lois Beatrice Helton Hudson. He is survived by his children: Dr. Walter Kenneth “Kenny” Hudson, Jr. (Kate), Barton “Bart” Lee Hudson, Christy Lynn Cannafax (Mark), and Wesley Kyle Hudson (Ena); grandchildren: Andrew “Drew” Bostwick Hudson, Robert Peyton Barman (aka “Pey Pey” or “Whistle Britches”), Hope Elizabeth Hudson, Alice Anne Hudson, Wyatt Kenneth Hudson; sister and caregiver: Sheila Kay Hudson; several cousins and lifelong friends.

A funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Monday, March 27th in the chapel of Moody-Daniel Funeral Home. A Graveside service with military honors will take place at 2 PM at Westview Cemetery in Atlanta. Friends may visit the family between 3 and 5 PM on Sunday, March 26th at the funeral home.
