Angela Diane Littleton Evans

Angela "Angie" Diane Littleton Evans, age 72, passed away peacefully and entered into our Lord's Kingdom on October 13th, 2022.

 

Memorial services will be Saturday, October 22, 2022, at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Coggins Funeral Home. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service at Coggins.

 

Angie was born in Thomaston, Ga on August 23, 1950, to the late Albert Littleton and Vera Dupree. Angie spent the majority of her life in Thomaston where she was a devoted wife and mother. She raised five children and loved her entire family dearly. She was loved by anyone that knew her and will be dearly missed.

 

She is survived by her children, Keith Parham (Katrina) of Thomaston, Darrell Evans (Ashley) of Griffin, Kathy Pitts of Griffin, and Karen Law of Griffin, Sisters, Rebecca "Becky" Harris of Griffin and Teresa Compton (Wayne) of The Rock, 10 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and many nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Darrell Evans Sr., sister, Quanna Arnold, and sons, Johnny Parham and Chris Parham. 

 

Angie was a wonderful wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, and friend. To know her was to know love.

Ray Horace Gulledge

Mr. Ray Horace Gulledge, age 90, of Thomaston, died Wednesday, October 12, 2022, at his residence.  

Mr. Gulledge was born on July 25, 1932, in Spalding County, Georgia, to the late Raymond Gulledge, and the late Ruth Thomas Gulledge.  He served his country in U.S. Navy during the Korean War.  He worked for the William Carter Company and was a member of Yatesville Baptist Church.  In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Carol Ruffin Gulledge.

Survivors include his sons, Kenny Gulledge of Thomaston, Gary (Darlene) Gulledge of Thomaston, grandchildren, Noah (Candy) Gulledge, Courtney (Ennio) Sanders, great-grandchildren, Jones Gulledge, Artis Gulledge, Zeke Gulledge, Preston Kelly, E.J. Sanders, several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, October 16, 2022, at 4:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Coggins Funeral Home.  Burial will follow at New Hope Cemetery.  The family will receive friends on Saturday, October 15, 2022, from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at Coggins Funeral Home.

 

Lenora Brooks

Mrs. Lenora "Lynn" Brooks, age 66, of Thomaston, died Tuesday, October 11, 2022, at Upson Regional Medical Center.  

 

Mrs. Brooks was born in Dublin, Georgia, on January 30, 1956, to the late Robert Edwin Daniels Sr. and the late Nell Sheppard Daniels.   Mrs. Lynn was a Financial Analyst for Clayton County Water Authority where she was a mentor and friend to many of her work family.  She was a member of New Harmony Baptist Church, where she was part of the choir and the praise team ministry.  She was faithful to God and the church through the Women's Missionary Union and a Sunday School teacher.  Mrs. Lynn had a beautiful voice and was a great encourager to her family and friends.  In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sister, Lynette D. Strickland.

 

Survivors include her husband, Vance Edward Brooks of Thomaston, daughters, April (Daniel) Chastain of Thomaston, Jessica (Shannon) Holliday of Carrollton, son, Bill (Erin) McDowell of Hudsonville, Michigan, brother, Robert Edwin (Carolyn) Daniels Jr. of Dublin, sisters, Jane Daniels (Terry) Bouldin of Mentone, Alabama, Lori Daniels (Michael) Thigpen of Dublin, grandchildren, Lila Ann, and Jace McFarlin Chastain both of Thomaston, William McDowell III of Hudsonville, Michigan, and a host of nieces and nephews.

 

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, October 16, 2022, at 3:00 p.m. from New Harmony Baptist Church.  Burial will follow at New Harmony Baptist Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends on Sunday, October 16, 2022, from 2:00 p.m.-3:00 p.m. at New Harmony Baptist Church.

Larry Brown

Mr. Larry Brown, age 78, of Barnesville, died Tuesday, October 11, 2022, at his residence.  

 

Mr. Brown was born November 2, 1943, in East Point, Georgia, to the late Charles Astor Brown, and the late Eva Mae Mailey Brown.  He served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Cuban Missile Crisis, and he was the owner and operator of Machinery Net, he was of the Baptist Faith.  In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Winston Royce Brown.

 

Survivors include his wife, Anne Shaw Brown of Barnesville, brothers, Bobby Brown of Norcross, Charlie Brown of Jackson, Dink Brown, of Bonaire, and Harry Brown of Douglasville, siter, Gloria Sims of Marietta, many nieces and nephews. 

 

Memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 15, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Coggins Funeral Home.  The family will receive friends on Saturday, October 15, 2022, from 1:00 p.m-2:00 p.m. at Coggins Funeral Home.

 

Inurnment will follow at a later date from the Georgia National Cemetery.

 

Christopher David Heard

Mr. Christopher David Heard, age 39, of McDonough, passed away at his home on October 7, 2022.  He grew up in Pike County, son of the late Wesley David Heard and Terry Marie Taylor Heard. Christopher was a wonderful husband and father who enjoyed spending time with his family and making great memories. He enjoyed camping, hiking, traveling, mowing grass, driving tractors, fixing engines, and working on the family farm in Concord. He was a professional photographer, extremely creative and could fix anything. He started his own IT Networking business called Eagle Shoals, where he worked with his wife and brother.

 

In addition to his parents, Christopher was preceded in death by his daughter, Penny May Heard, and his sisters, Valerie Marie and Christy Lynn Heard.

 

He is survived by his wife:  Amy Lee Smith Heard; children: Sophy Faith Heard (5) and Samuel David Heard (3); brothers and sister: Timothy Heard, Robert Heard and Marie Heard; grandmother: Gerry Costell Taylor; and many uncles, aunts, and cousins.

 

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 11, 2022, at 3 p.m., in the chapel of Moody-Daniel Funeral Home with Pastor Cody McNutt officiating. Burial will follow in Magnolia Cemetery in Concord.

 

Friends may visit the family on Tuesday, from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m., at the funeral home.

Earl William Dayton

Mr. Earl William Dayton, 87, of Barnesville, GA, died October 7, 2022, at Sunny Grove Assisted Living in Barnesville. 

 

Funeral services for Mr. Dayton will be held on Sunday, October 9, at 1:00 PM in the chapel of Fletcher-Day Funeral Home. Rev. Katie Fowler and Mr. Richard Dayton will officiate, and interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery in Barnesville. The family will receive friends at Fletcher-Day Funeral Home on Sunday afternoon from 12:00 PM until the funeral hour.

 

Mr. Dayton was born February 23, 1935, in St. James, MN, to the late Earl William Dayton and Sylvia Angeline Sletto Dayton. He moved to Atlanta, GA, in 1950 and graduated from Northside High School in 1954. He attended Georgia Tech and Oglethorpe University. He was a member of the Georgia Air National Guard serving in the Air Force Reserve for eight years during the Korean War. Early in his career, Mr. Dayton was employed by J. M. Tull and J&J Alloys, Inc., of Hampton, GA, as a sales manager from 1968-1984 and President/CEO from 1985 until his retirement in 1996. He was a long-time resident of Barnesville, GA, and an active member of the community. He served on the board of Barnesville-Lamar Community Foundation and was a member of the Barnesville Rotary Club for many years.

 

Mr. Dayton is remembered with love by his companion of many years, Bonnie Banks; his children from his first marriage to Sara Frances Dayton: William Dayton, Richard (Conchita) Dayton, Katherine (Tony) Watkins, David (Jan) Dayton, Archie Dayton, and Mary Sylvia (Richard) Strouss; his son from his second marriage to Cassandra Bray Dayton, Matthew Dayton; 16 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild.

David Hugh Truitt

Mr. David Hugh Truitt, age 71, of Thomaston, died Friday, October 7, 2022, at Eastman Health and Rehab.

A service to celebrate David’s life will be held Sunday, October 16, 2022, at 2:00 PM, at Fletcher Day Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM at the funeral home prior to the service.

 

David was born September 16, 1951, in Griffin, Georgia, the only child of the late Grady Hugh Truitt and the late Eddie Lee Alford Truitt. He graduated from Swansboro High School in North Carolina. He worked for many years at Blue Bird Body Company in Fort Valley and was then self-employed as the owner of Odd Jobs Outdoor Power Equipment in Thomaston. He loved being outdoors, enjoying time with family and friends, UGA football. The Atlanta Braves, and playing the guitar. He was of the Baptist faith.

 

David leaves behind to cherish his memory, his daughters, Jennifer (Shane) Stokes and Christy (Randy) Winkles, as well as his grandchildren, Bo Cummings and his fiancé Molly Gibbs, Nichole Cummings and her boyfriend Hunter Howard, Logan (Breanna) Winkles, Bryce (Cameron) House, Savannah (Cody) Churchwell, and Jacob Daniel as well as his aunts, uncles, many cousins and friends.

Gerald Kay Johnson

Mr. Gerald Kay Johnson, age 78, of The Rock, died Sunday, October 9, 2022, at his residence.  

 

Mr. Johnson was born on December 13, 1943, in Portsmouth VA, to the late John Johnson Jr. and the late Viola Smith Johnson. He worked as an aircraft mechanic at the Thomaston Airport, and he was a member of the United Church of God of Macon.  In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Sherald Johnson.

 

Survivors include his wife, Mary Frances Simmons Johnson of The Rock; daughter, Melissa (Robert) Holcomb of Chesapeake VA; sons, Shawn Johnson of VA, David Davis of NC, and Casey (Amee) Johnson of Salisbury, NC; stepson, John (Lisa) Stallone of Dandridge, TN; 6 grandchildren and nephew, Johnny (Maria) Johnson of Griffin, GA.

 

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 13, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. from The Rock United Methodist Church.  Burial will follow at the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 13, 2022, from 1:00 p.m.-2:00 p.m. at The Rock United Methodist Church.

William Ellsworth Bradley Jr

Mr. William Ellsworth Bradley Jr, age 64, of Yatesville, died Saturday, October 8, 2022, at his residence. 

Mr. Bradley was born in St. Charles, Illinois, to the late William Ellsworth Bradley Sr., and the late Elaine Traeger Beal.  He worked as a farmhand.  Mr. Bradley enjoyed the outdoors and spending time with his family and grandchildren.  In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Scott Bradley.

 

Survivors include his daughter, Amber (Kevin) Moore of Thomaston, stepdaughters, Randi (Jacob) Fielder of Manchester, and Brianna Knight of Manchester, son, William (Kimberly Parham) Bradley III of Macon, brothers, Robert Bradey, John (Roxanne) Bradley, sisters, Rebecca (Ronald) Ehredt, Amy Villareal, Elizabeth (Rodney) Oates, seven, grandchildren, stepfather, Glen Beal, stepmother, Carol Bradley, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

James "Jimmy" Wilson McIntyre

Mr. James "Jimmy" Wilson McIntyre, age 63, of Meansville, died Saturday, October 7, 2022 at AU Medical Center.

Mr. McIntyre was born on June 8, 1959, in Atlanta, to Harris Lamar McIntyre, and the late Susan Rebecca Brooks Clark.  He was of the Baptist Faith.  He is preceded in death by his mother.

 

Survivors include his father, Harris (Ann) McIntyre of Norman Park, step-daughter, Jada Strickland of Thomaston , son, Nicholas James McIntyre of Meansville, brother, Dwayne (Jewellene) McIntyre of Barnesville, step-brother, Bobby Clark of Thomaston, half-sister, Christy (Bobby) Tucker of Columbus, and five grandchildren.

 

Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, October 11, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. from Crystal Hill Cemetery.  The family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 11, 2022 from 1:00 p.m.-2:00 p.m. at Coggins Funeral Home.

John Daniel “Dan” Faircloth

Mr. John Daniel “Dan” Faircloth, age 54, of Zebulon, passed away October 2, 2022.

Dan was born on January 5, 1968, to Betty Faircloth and the late John C. Faircloth. He was a longtime construction worker who specialized in roofing and carpentry. He was most recently employed with Kia in general assembly. He was handy and enjoyed building things. Dan was a hard worker and provider for his family. He could often be found watching his kids and grandkids play baseball at the ball fields. He was a dedicated family man who was always there when they needed him. Dan was his brother’s best friend and a hero to many who looked up to him. Dan will be remembered as a loving husband, father, son and PePaw.

Along with his father, Dan was preceded in death by his brother, Dexter Faircloth, sister, Charlene Faircloth, and brother-in-law, Ricky Maddox.

He is survived by his beloved wife: Janet Faircloth of Zebulon; children: Daniel Faircloth and girlfriend Shelby of Zebulon, Destiny Mullis and husband Nathan of Lagrange, Jonathan Faircloth and wife Whitney of Molena; grandchildren: Nolan, Grayson, Natalie Kate, Mason, Emersyn and Kohen; mother: Betty Faircloth of Griffin; brother and sister-in-law: Carey and Kym Faircloth of Orchard Hill; sister and brother-in-law: Brandy and Ronnie Cochran of McDonough; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Donnie and Mary Bagwell of Yatesville, Robert and Angela Bagwell of The Rock and Peggy Maddox of Zebulon; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 3 PM on Sunday, October 9th at Moody-Daniel Funeral Home. Friends may visit the family beginning at 2 PM at the funeral home. 

Barbara Self Hancock

Mrs. Barbara Self Hancock, 77, of Thomaston, died Friday, October 7, 2022, at Brightmoor Hospice in Griffin. Funeral services for Mrs. Hancock will be held Sunday, October 9, at 4:00 PM in the chapel of Fletcher-Day Funeral Home. Dr. Rex King and Dr. Ryan Christopher will officiate, and interment will follow in South View Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Fletcher-Day Funeral Home Sunday afternoon from 2:45 PM until 3:45 PM.

Mrs. Hancock was born September 28, 1945, in Upson County to the late James Lawson Self and Annie Ruth Huckaby Self. She was a 1963 graduate of R. E. Lee Institute. Mrs. Hancock was a homemaker and was a member of Mountain View Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hancock was preceded in death by a daughter, Becky Ann Hancock Timmins. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Barry Hancock; a son, Buddy (Dana) Hancock; and three grandchildren: Andrew Timmins, Shep Hancock, and Emma Hancock.
