BERNICE OGLESBY WEAVER

Bernice Oglesby Weaver, age 87, passed peacefully into the Lord's hands on Tuesday, March 23, at Riverside Health and Rehab. She was born in Pike County on January 15, 1934, to Charlie Alton and Mary Ellen Kelly Oglesby. She is preceded in death by her parents, siblings, and her husband Ronnie George Weaver.

Bernice is survived by daughters, Debra (Tony) Martinez of Thomaston, and Marsha (Alan) Landers of Williamson. Her sons are Fred (Cindy) Pitts Jr. of St Augustine, FL, and Stan (Chrystle) Pitts of Thomaston. She is also survived by thirteen grandchildren and twenty-one great-grandchildren. Her family and friends have sorely missed their visits with her during the past year.

Bernice wore many hats during her life in Thomaston. She worked as an insurance agent for both Woodmen of the World and MetLife for twenty-six years. She also opened the Donut Delight, which grew into the Pitts Stop on Georgia Avenue. She served as secretary to the pastor for many years at First Baptist Church, where she was active in Sunday School, WMU, and missions. She loved her children and their many friends, who always felt welcome at her home. She was never happier than when she was doing something for others,

Funeral services for Bernice will be held on Saturday morning, March 27, 2021, at 11:00 a.m., from the Chapel of Coggins Funeral Home, with visitation an hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in the Crystal Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Annie Armstrong Easter Offering at First Baptist Church.

Many thanks to the staff and volunteers at riverside Health and Rehab for every kindness shown to our mother and grandmother.
