DORIS BEULAH HEAD ANTHONY

Doris Beulah Head Anthony, born April 1, 1928, passed away on Sunday, June 24, 2018, at the age of 90.  She was born to the late Corine Brownlow Head, deceased 1991, and George Howard Head, deceased 1965, of Thomaston, Georgia, and she lived and loved her entire life in this area.

Doris worked for 50 years in the textile industry, working alongside her husband in the same departments at Thomaston Mills and Callaway Mills in Manchester (later Dearing-Milliken).  Then they retired together to own and operate Anthony’s Lake on the outskirts of Molena, on their family property.  They partnered in the family farm and raised their two children in that lovely rural setting, attending and enthusiastically participating in activities at Smyrna Baptist Church for all of their adult lives. Anyone who knew Doris appreciated her loyalty to family, church and friends.

Mrs. Anthony was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, William Lewis Anthony who passed away in 2004; a grandson, William Brian Harden, deceased in 1991; a sister, Hazel Gaultney, deceased in 1988; a brother, Milton Head, deceased in 1968; a sister, Geraldine Conkle, deceased in 2011;and an infant brother, A.B. Head, deceased in 1932.

Left behind to mourn her are her children: a son, William Wayne (Barbara) Anthony of Molena, and a daughter, Teresa Anthony (Stan-deceased 2013) Watson of Griffin; grandchildren David A. Harden of Griffin, Shannon Anthony of LaGrange, Lisa Anthony Roberts, Joe Anthony, Casey (April) Clark all of Thomaston and Kelly Clark (Curt) Williams of North Carolina; great grandchildren Madeleine, Brody, Lilly, Ava, Gage, Megan, Taylor and Caitlyn.
