Mr. Edward Asbury Whitmire, age 87, died Sunday, December 3, 2017, at Oconee Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Whitmire was born June 24, 1930, in Toccoa GA, to the late Yoda and Pearl Davis Whitmire. He was owner/operator of Whitmire's Restaurant, and Tasty Freeze; member of Valley Grove Baptist Church, and U.S. Navy Veteran of the Korean Conflict.
He is survived by his wife, Susan Whitmire of Thomaston; sons, Alan (Dinah) Whitmire of Thomaston and Brad (Laurie Ann) Whitmire of Thomaston; sisters, Polly Snider of Toccoa GA and Mertis Moore of South Carolina; brothers, Truitt (Barbara) "Babs" Whitmire of Tennessee and Richard (Kathy) Whitmire of California; sister-in-law, Shirley Whitmire of Athens Ga; 4 grandchildren, Daniel Alan (Jennifer) Whitmire, Paul Edward Whitmire, Nickolaus Bradley Whitmire, and Rachel Nicole Whitmire. He is preceded in death by his brothers, Robert Whitmire and Quinton Whitmire; and sister, Lillian Mitchell.
Funeral services for Mr. Whitmire will be held on Thursday, December 7, 2017, at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Coggins Funeral Home, with burial to follow in Crystal Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Coggins Funeral Home on Thursday December 7, 2017 from 12:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers donations maybe made to the Georgia War Veterans Home at 2249 Vinson Highway Milledgeville Ga. 31061.
