MR. JERRY NORMAN LAWRENCE SR.

Mr. Jerry Norman Lawrence Sr. age 78 of Thomaston Ga, died Friday February 26, 2016 at Upson Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Lawrence was born on July 13, 1937 in Thomaston Ga, to the late John and Doris Pryor Lawrence. He was formerly employed with Hill Construction where he worked as a foreman for many years.

Survivors include his wife Mrs. Louise Lawrence of Thomaston Ga, daughter Mrs. Pamela (Ricky) Peek of Thomaston Ga, son Mr. Norman (Deidre) Lawrence of Meansville Ga, sister Mrs. Barbara (Zeno) Taunton of Thomaston Ga, 4 Grandchildren, 2 Great Grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held on Sunday February 28, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Coggins Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Upson Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Coggins Funeral Home on Sunday February 28, 2016 from 1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.

MR. ROBERT STEVE SMITH

Mr. Robert Steve Smith age 72 of Barnesville Ga, died Wednesday February 24, 2016 at his residence. 

Mr. Smith was born on September 14, 1943 in Macon Ga, to the late Glenn and Christine Lee Smith. Mr. Robert "Steve" Smith, a hot stretch shift coordinator, is bringing his career to a close after completing 47 years of service with Continental Tire's Aldora Plant in Barnesville Ga. He was preceded in death by his son in law Mr. Andy Williams and grandchild Mr. Nicholas Worthy.

Survivors include his wife Mrs. Valynda Smith of Barnesville Ga, daughter Mrs. Kimberly Williams of Barnesville Ga, sister Mrs. Sue Etheridge of Easley S.C.

Graveside Services will be held on Saturday February 27, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. from New Hope Church Cemetery in Barnesville Ga. The family will receive friends at Coggins Funeral Home on Friday February 26, 2016 from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.

MRS. PATRICIA E. MATHEWS

Mrs. Patricia E. Mathews, age 68, of Thomaston, Ga., passed away Friday, Feb. 19, 2016, at Upson Regional Medical Center.
 
She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Clay Mathews.
 
Mrs. Mathews was born Sept. 18, 1947, in Augusta, Ga., to the late Peggy Ann Clark and the late Bonnie Ashley.
 
A retired licensed practical nurse, Mrs. Mathews most recently worked at Roosevelt Warm Springs Institute for Rehabilitation, and attended Shiloh Baptist Church.
 
Survivors include her son, Gene Mathews and his wife, Sheila, of Thomaston; daughters, Renee Green and her husband, Ron, of Orange Park, Fla., and Janie Padgett and her husband, Corey, of Milner; brother, Ed Carey, of Augusta; sisters, Tina Norman, of Norfolk, Va., and Peggy Ann McGahee and her husband, Paul, of Waynesboro; 11 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren.
 
Funeral services for Mrs. Patricia E. Mathews will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 24, 2016, at Shiloh Baptist Church, 2737 Highway 19, Thomaston. Interment will follow in Upson Memorial Gardens, Highway 36, Thomaston.
 
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 23, at Coggins Funeral Home.

MRS. EARLENE P. ROGERS

Mrs. Earlene P. Rogers age 88 of Thomaston Ga, died February 16 at Riverside Nursing Center.

Mrs. Rogers was born March 6, 1927 in Butler, Ga, to the late Ernest and Florence Phillips. She retired from Goody's in Manchester, Ga. Mrs. Rogers was a member of Valley Grove Baptist Church. She was a 1944 graduate of R.E. Lee Institute. She was preceded in death by her husband Chandler W. Rogers. The family would like you to give thanks to Riverside Nursing Home for their compassionate care.

Survivors include her daughter Mrs. Brenda R. Byrd (Charles) of Eastman, Ga, son Ronnie Rogers (JoAnn) of Thomaston, Ga, son Nathan Rogers (Susan) of Thomaston, Ga., and Peggy R. Glaze (Robert) of Hampton, Ga.; Grandchildren, Michael Byrd, Christy Boutwell, Nicole (Nikki) Byrd, Kimberly R. Parks, Jeff Rogers, Scotty Rogers, Sunni Rogers and Kelli Y. Huggins. She has twelve great-grandchildren. 

The family will receive friends at Coggins Funeral Home on Thursday, February 18 from 2-4pm. Funeral Services will be held in the Chapel of Coggins Funeral Home following visitation at 4:00 PM. Burial will follow at Valley Grove Baptist Cemetery.

Mr. Donald Rudolph Carr age 77 of Thomaston Ga, died Saturday February 13, 2016 at Providence Health & Rehab. 

Mr. Carr was born on June 8, 1938 in Thomaston Ga, to the late G.B. and Willie Bell Coleman Carr. He was formerly employed with Thomaston Mills where he worked as a Machine Operator for many years.

Survivors include his wife Mrs. Kay Carr of Thomaston Ga, daughters Mrs. Deborah (Mike) Blount of Thomaston Ga, Mrs. Kathy (Chris) Royal of Thomaston Ga, sons Mr. David Carr of Thomaston Ga, Mr. Wayne Vaughn of Thomaston Ga, grandchildren Kristy (Josh) Long, Kandise (Robert) Casteel, Mandi Lowe, Joey (Amanda) Lowe, Cody Chapman, Amanda Vaughn, 7 Great Grandchildren and one on the way, cousins Mr. Jack (Helga) Coleman, Mr. Charles Coleman, sister in law Mrs. Ann (Larry) Dawson of Thomaston Ga.

MR. BILLY J. JOHNSTON

Mr. Billy J. Johnston, age 77, of Thomaston, died Saturday, February 6, 2016 at his residence.

Mr. Johnston was born on August 3, 1938 in Troup County to the late Ruby Lurlene and Glenn Posey Johnston, He is a U.S. Army Veteran, retired truck driver for Pepsi Cola, life member of the VFW and a Cootie.

He is preceded in death by his son, Joey Johnston. Survivors are his son, Thomas Johnston; sisters, Wanda Faye (Bobby) Roye of Senoia, Betty Elizabeth (Garvis) McKeen of Lagrange, and Barbara Jean Riggs of Birmingham AL; brothers, Glenn Joel Johnston of Lagrange, and Dan Johnston of Atlanta. 

Graveside services for Mr. Johnston will be held on Wednesday, February 10, 2016 at 1:00 pm in Crystal Hill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested that donations be made to VFW Post 6447, 125 Veterans Dr. Thomaston GA 30286.

MR. SHELLIE WIGGINS

Mr. Shellie Wiggins, age 75, formerly of Ft. Valley, died Thursday, February 4, in Monroeville AL at his residence.   

Mr. Wiggins was born on August 8, 1940, in Bryson City NC. to the late Betsy and Joseph Wiggins. He was a Civil Service Material Inspector at Warner Robbins Air Force Base, and member of Livingstone Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Louisa Wiggins; daughters, Tammie (Bob) Rainey of Monroeville AL, and Teresa (Ray White) Wiggins of Byron GA; son, Eddie (Patty) Wiggins of Ft. Valley; son-in-law, Mike Majors of Thomaston; sisters, Janette Ludlum of Macon, and Nellie Bowen of Warner Robbins; grandchildren, Nikki (Nash) Austin, Casie (Jason) Crosby, Michael (Lindsey) Wiggins, "Little Eddie" Wiggins, Tammi-Ann (Aaron) Gentry, Ezra Wiggins, Kay Rainey, and Josh Dobbins; great-grandchildren, Kinsley Wiggins, Majors Austin, Bentley Wiggins, and Owen Crosby. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Tina Marie Wiggins Majors; grandson, Landon Wiggins; brothers and sisters, William David Wiggins, Edward Wiggins, Ida Bell Wiggins, Claude Wiggins, Zeb Wiggins, Lola Wiggins Cota, Lilly Mae Wiggins, Bonnie Wiggins Shuler, Raymond Wiggins,  Marie Miller Wiggins, Charles Richard Wiggins, Wade Wiggins, and Betty Hyde.    

Funeral services for Mr. Wiggins will be held on Monday, February 8, 2016 at 1:00 PM at Livingstone Baptist Church in Ft. Valley. Graveside services will be held on Monday, February 8, 2016 at 4:00 PM in Crystal Hill Cemetery in Thomaston. The family will receive friends on Monday, February 8, 2016 from 12:00 - 1:00 pm at Livingstone Baptist Church in Ft. Valley.
