MRS. IMA B. LONG

Mrs. Ima B. Long, age 89, of Midway GA, formerly of Thomaston, died Thursday January 28, at The Suites at Station Exchange in Richmond Hill GA.

Mrs. Long was born on March 2, 1925 in Bryan County GA to the late Claude Edward and Eula Adrin Bashlor. She was the owner/operator of Midway Motel in Midway GA, and member of the Midway 1st Baptist Church.

She is preceded in death by her husband, William F. Long. Survivors include he daughters, Teresa (Don) Madak of Atlanta, and Patsy (Jimmy) Gill of Richmond Hill GA; son, James (Kathy) Hudgins II of Middleburg FL; 5 sisters; 1 brother; grandchildren, James Hudgins III, Serena Jones, and Laurie Teusaw; and great-grandchildren, Jake Hudgins and Caroline Hudgins.

Funeral services for Mrs. Long will be held on Sunday, January 31, 2016 at 3:00 pm in the Chapel of Coggins Funeral Home, with burial to follow in Southview Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday, January 31, 2016 from 1:30 - 3:00 pm at Coggins Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested that memorial donation be made to Hospice Savannah, P.O. Box 13190, Savannah GA 31416.

MR. ROBERT ARTHUR DELOACH

Mr. Robert Arthur DeLoach, age 92 of Thomaston, died Saturday, January 23, 2016 at the Upson Regional Medical Center.

Mr. DeLoach was born August 7, 1923, in Upson County, to the late George W. and Mattie Lee DeLoach. He is a WWII Veteran, serving with the 82nd Airborne Division from 1940 - 1945, with combat action in Okinawa, Philippines, and New Guinea. He retired from Continental Steel with over 20 years as a Iron Worker, and was a lifetime member of the VFW.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Nancy DeLoach; sisters, Patricia DeLoach and Marlene Black. Survivors are his nieces, Judi Potter of Kennesaw GA, Teresa Schroeder of Austell GA, and Cindy Black (Steve) Perry of Columbia SC; nephews, Marty R. (Lesligh) DeLoach of Douglasville GA, Leon (Martha) Black of Camden SC, and Kenneth Black of Livingston LA; great-nieces, Jenny Lee Deloach, and Elishia Wright both of Canton GA; great-nephews, Dominic Harris and Jackson Harris of Canton GA, Justin Schroeder Athens GA, Tripp Black of Lugoff SC, Josh Black of Camden SC, and Michael Kocke of Columbia SC.

Memorial graveside services for Mr. DeLoach will be held on Saturday, January 30, 2016 at 1:00 PM at Glennwood Cemetery.

MRS. HELEN LEGG SALTER

Mrs. Helen Legg Salter age 93 of Thomaston Ga, died Friday January 15, 2016 at Riverside Nursing Center.

Mrs. Legg was born on February 13, 1922 in Zebulon Ga, to the late Walter and Ethel Minter Legg. She was a homemaker. Mrs. Salter was a member of New Hope Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband Mr. Mansel Salter.

Survivors include her daughters Mrs. Connie (Marshall) Voss of Thomaston Ga, Mrs. Judy (Norman) Walsh of Cairo Ga, 3 Grandchildren, 7 Great Grandchildren, 1 Great Great Grandchildren.

MRS. MADELYN HICKMON COLLINS

Mrs. Madelyn Hickmon Collins, 98, of Thomaston, died Wednesday, January 13th, 2016.
Funeral services for Mrs. Collins will be held on Saturday, January 16th, 2016 in the Chapel of the Fletcher-Day Funeral Home. Burial will follow in South View Cemetery.
The family of Mrs. Collins will receive friends at Fletcher-Day Funeral Home on Saturday from 1 pm until the funeral hour.
Mrs. Collins was born in Effingham County on November 21st, 1917, a daughter of the late George W. Hickmon and Neppie Webb Hickmon. She was a 1934 graduate of R. E. Lee Institute.
Mrs. Collins and her husband, the late Williams Harris Collins, Sr., owned and operated the Collins ABC Grocery Store for many years.
Mrs. Collins was a charter member of the Trinity Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for over 40 years. She had been a member and director of the local Women's Missionary Union and took an active role in the state organization. She was also a member of the Woodmen of the World.,
Mrs. Collins is survived by a daughter, Harriett C. Raines of Yatesville; a son, William Harris "Billy" (JoAnn) Collins, Jr., of Lincolnton; a brother, James Hickmon of Atlanta; eight grandchildren, Bill Collins of Yatesville, Chris (Angie) Collins of Lincolnton, Laurie (Eric) Larson of Evans, Karen (Thomas) Howell of Thomaston, Elizabeth Leavitt of Thomaston, Melissa Iacobellis of Seattle, WA, James (Rachel) Collins of Stone Mountain and Alan (Gina) Collins of Saint Louis, MO; and ten great grandchildren.

In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by a daughter, Shirley C. Leavitt and a son, James H. Collins. 
Memorial Contributions may be made to Trinity Baptist Church, 410 South Church St., Thomaston, GA 32086.

Mr. Lewis Arnold Moore, age 64, of Thomaston died Wednesday, January 13, 2016 at Eternal Hope Hospice in Griffin.

MRS. MARJORIE AVERY CHAPMAN

Mrs. Marjorie Avery Chapman, age 89, of Thomaston died Wednesday, January 13, 2016 at her residence.
Mrs. Chapman was born on June 16, 1926 to the late Enoch and Sheldon Inez Avery. She was formerly employed with the William Carter Company where she worked as a seamstress for many years. Mrs. Chapman was a member of East Thomaston Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband Mr. Milton Chapman of Thomaston Ga, daughters Mrs. Lynn (Ronald) Adams of Thomaston Ga, Mrs. Cathy (Deno) Trentman of Thomaston Ga, brother Mr. Wayne (Robin) Avery of Thomaston Ga, sister Mrs. Faye Cannon of Augusta Ga, 6 Grandchildren, 10 Great Grandchildren, 1 Great Great Grandchild.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday January 15, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. from the Chapel of Coggins Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Coggins Funeral Home on Friday January 15, 2016 from 10-11 a.m.

Mr. Joseph Alton "Joe" Crews, age 73, of Thomaston, died Tuesday, January 12, 2016 at his residence.

Mr. Crews was born on August 29, 1942 in Thomaston to the late Inez and Royal Crews. He was a sales representative for Keebler.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Crews ; sons, Al (Cindy) Crews, Tony (Lori) Crews; brother, Ray Crews; sister, Donna Wheeless; 4 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren all of Thomaston.

Graveside services for Mr. Crews will be held on Thursday, January 14, 2016 at 2:00 PM in Crystal Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Shirdon Lane Parker age 66 of Thomaston Ga, died Tuesday January 12, 2016 at The Medical Center of Central Georgia.

Mr. Parker was born on May 2, 1949 in Thomaston Ga, to the late Jesse and Aline Duke Parker. He was formerly employed with Thomaston Mills where he worked for many years. Mr. Parker was a member of United Pentecostal Church. He was preceded in death by his daughter Cynthia Joanne Garner.

Survivors include his son Mr. Robert L. Parker of Thomaston Ga, sisters Mrs. Ann (Larry) Dawson of Thomaston Ga, Mrs. Kay (Donald) Carr of Thomaston Ga, Grandchildren Candace Garner, great grandchildren Ansley Wells, Gracie Garner.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday January 15, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Coggins Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Crystal Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Coggins Funeral Home on Thursday January 14, 2016 from 4-6 p.m.

MRS. BARBARA PARTRIDGE ROGERS

Mrs. Barbara Partridge Rogers, age 75, of Thomaston, died Sunday, January 10, 2016 at her residence.

Mrs. Rogers was born in Thomaston on February 18, 1940 to the late Johnnie Mae and Claude "A.C." Partridge. She retired as a telephone operator for Alltell, and was a member of New Harmony Baptist Church.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Clifton Rogers. Survivors are her daughter, June Vermeer of Thomaston; sons, Jimmy (Jennifer) Rogers, and Jeffery (April) Rogers both of Thomaston; sister, Annette Partridge Trice of Thomaston;  6 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mrs. Rogers will be held on Tuesday, January 12, 2016 at 3:00 PM in the Chapel of Coggins Funeral Home, with burial to follow in Crystal Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 12, 2016 from 1:00 - 3:00 PM at Coggins Funeral Home.

MRS. JOHNNIE SUE HURSTON TYLER

Mrs. Johnnie Sue Hurston Tyler age 72 of Thomaston Ga, died Thursday January 7, 2016 at her residence. 

Mrs. Tyler was born on April 12, 1943 in Walker County GA, to the late John William and Rosa Mae Hurston. She was a member of the Thomaston First Methodist Church and it's UMW group.

She is survived by her husband, Donnie W. Tyler; daughters, Kaki M. (Steve) Heath of Athens, and Shawn (Brent) Daniel of Thomaston; sons, Brent (Jessica) McDaniel of Macon, and Shannon (Erica) Tyler of Barnesville; sisters, Bobbie Hill of Thomaston, Linda (Ray) Hammond of Ardmore OK, and Glenda Marshal of Cleveland GA; grandchildren, Landon Heath, Mary Grace Heath, Elli Heath, Palmer Heath, Jonathan McDaniel, Drew McDaniel, Larson McDaniel, Cole McDaniel, Bennett Pardue, Avery Pardue, Chase Daniel, Ben Daniel, Zack Tyler, Kenley Tyler, and Cullen Tyler. 

Funeral services for Mrs. Tyler will be held on Saturday, January 9, 2016 at 11:00 AM at the Thomaston First Methodist Church, with burial to follow in Crystal Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday, January 8, 2016 from 4:00 - 6:00 PM at Coggins Funeral Home.

Mrs. Mary June Wadsworth, age 79, of Butler, GA,  died Tuesday, January 5, 2016, at her residence. 

She was born on May 26, 1936, in Thomaston to the late Wilson and Sarah McLemore. She was a clerk at Alan's store and of the Baptist Faith.

Survivors include her daughter Mrs. Debra Robinson of Butler Ga, son Mr. Michael Watson of Oglethorpe Ga, brothers Mr. Kenneth (Sadaka) McLemore of Las Vegas NV, Mr. Maynard (Patsy) McLemore of Thomaston Ga, sister Mrs. Joanne Hall of Reynolds Ga. 4 Grandchildren, 4 Great Grandchildren, 1 Great Great Grandchild.

SHE IS SURVIVED BY A DAUGHTER, MRS. JEAN HUGULEY OF MILLEDGEVILLE. ONE GRANDCHILD AND TWO GREAT GRANDCHILDREN ALSO SURVIVE.
