Mr. Arthur S. Duncan

Mr. Arthur S. Duncan, 83, of Thomaston died Saturday, March 28th, at Brightmoor Hospice in Griffin.

Mr. Duncan was born in Moore, Texas on October 22, 1931 a son of the late Jake Duncan, Jr., and Clara Saldana Duncan. He was an eight-year veteran of the U. S. Air Force and was stationed in Seoul, Korea during the Korean War. Upon his discharge in 1959 he was employed for 15 years at Robins Air Force Base as a warehouse foreman.


Mr. Duncan was raised in the Roman Catholic Church but while a long-time resident of Macon he attended the Bellview Baptist Church. He and his wife, Patricia B. Duncan moved to Thomaston in 2009.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Duncan is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Debra and Steve Daniel of Thomaston; four sisters, Velia Hoffman of Keesport, Pennsylvania, Alice Morales of San Antonio, Texas, Cecelia Lopez of Ft. Worth, Texas, and Isabell (Albert) Altamirano of San Antonio, Texas; two grandchildren, Blake (Amanda) Lindsey of Lizella and Christopher Daniel of Buckhead; and one great grandson, Hudson Lindsey.


The family of Mr. Duncan will receive friends at Fletcher-Day Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 31st from 5 until 7 pm. Private memorial services will be held on Wednesday, April 1st  at 11:00 a. m., at Fletcher-Day Funeral Home.

Mr. Charles M. James

Mr. Charles M. James age 83 of Thomaston died Thursday March 26th at Riverside Health and Rehab. 

Mr. James was born on October 7, 1931 in Harris City Georgia, to the late Terry and Velma James. He was formerly employed with Farmers Furniture where he worked as a Regional Manager for many years. Mr. James was a member of Antioch Methodist Church. He served his country in the U.S. Marine Corp.

Survivors include his wife Mrs. Carlene James of Thomaston; daughter Mrs. Sandy (Mike) Bates of Yatesville; son Mr. Steve (Christy) James of Thomaston; grandchildren Josh Bates, Thomas James, Ben James.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday March 28th at 2:00 p.m. from Antioch Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Crystal Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Antioch Methodist Church one hour prior to the service.

Ms. Mary Elizabeth Huster Smith

Ms. Mary Elizabeth Huster Smith age 66 of Fairhope Alabama, formerly of Thomaston died Wednesday March 25th in Fairhope.

Ms. Smith was born on April 2, 1948 to the late Henry and Lucille Huster. She was a homemaker and a loving mother and grandmother. Ms. Smith graduated from Southeastern Missouri State with a degree in education in 1970. She was a member of St. Johns Catholic Church.

Survivors include her daughters Mrs. Stephanie (David) Cain of Fairhope Alabama; Mrs. Amelia (Callie) Gabalman of Flagstaff Arizona; brothers Mr. Donald (Judy) Huster of St. Charles Missouri; Mr. Thomas (Cathy) Huster of Springfield Missouri; grandchildren Davis Cain, Noah Cain and Roen Cain all of Fairhope Alabama.

Memorial Services will be held on Saturday March 28th at 6:00 p.m. from the Gathering Church. The family will receive friends at the church immediately following the service.

Mrs. Sara Davison Thompson

Mrs. Sara Davison Thompson age 84 of Thomaston, a loving wife, mother and grandmother died Wednesday March 25th at Providence Health & Rehab. 

Mrs. Thompson was born on March 17, 1931 in Thomaston to the late James and Eva Mae Davison. She was a member of Silvertown Baptist Church for many years, and in recent years was a member of East Thomaston Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years Ed Thompson, in 2006. They were devoted to each other and to their son, Kenny. Throughout Kenny's school years,
Sara and Ed never missed his baseball or football games. Whether the games were at home or out of town, fair weather our foul, they were in the stands supporting him and his teammates. They were also faithful booster club members. After Kenny joined the U.S. Navy, they kept in touch with him wherever he was stationed. This same love and devotion carried on to their grandchildren, Kenny and Kelly, and they looked forward to them spending every summer with them in Thomaston. Sara and Ed planted a big garden every year and enjoyed freezing and canning their vegetables and sharing the bounty with their family, neighbors and friends. They also loved to bowl and were members of the B.F. Goodrich team, of which Sara served as secretary. A lifelong resident of Silvertown, Sara worked at Martha Mills B.F. Goodrich for more than 40 years until her retirement in 1995. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.

Survivors include her son Mr. Kenneth D. (Robin) Thompson of Atoka Tennessee; brother Mr. Milton (Emily) Davison of Thomaston; grandson Mr. Kenneth L. (Kimber) Thompson of Houston Texas; granddaughter Kelly Thompson of 
Atoka Tennessee.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday March 28th at 11:00 a.m. from the Chapel of Coggins Funeral Home with Rev. Joey Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Crystal Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Coggins Funeral Home on Friday March 27th from 6-8 p.m.

Mr. Donald Franklin Partridge

Mr. Donald Franklin Partridge age 85 of Thomaston died Wednesday March 25th at Carrollton Nursing Center. 

Mr. Partridge was born on December 7, 1929 in Floyd County Georgia, to the late Clarence Partridge Sr. and Doris Lee Partridge. He was formerly employed with the Georgia Department of Transportation where he worked as an accounting clerk for 20 years. Mr. Partridge served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church, Yatesville Seniors and AARP. Mr. Partridge lived to fish. He was preceded in death by his wife Mrs. Dean Partridge grandsons Timmy Baldwin, Weston Baldwin and great granddaughter Angel.

Survivors include his daughters Mrs. Donna (Dr. Dick)Baldwin of Douglasville; Mrs. Dee Ann (Philip)Bailey of Marietta; son Mr. Phil (Nina) Partridge of Covington; sister in law Mrs. Barbara Partridge of Thomaston; 7 Grandchildren and 9 Great Grandchildren

Funeral Services will be held on Sunday March 29th at 2:00 p.m. from Trinity Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Upson Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Coggins Funeral Home on Saturday March 28th from 5-8 p.m.

Mrs. Jewel Annette Harrison

Mrs. Jewel Annette Harrison age 73 of Thomaston Ga, died Wednesday March 25th at Golden Living Center. 

Mrs. Harrison was born on February 23, 1942 in Thomaston Georgia, to the late Jesse and Thelma Long Kennedy. She was formerly employed with The William Carter Company where she worked for many years. Mrs. Harrison was a member of Pike County Assembly of God.

Survivors include her daughter Mrs. Cristal (Steve) Hatcher of Thomaston; son Mr. Todd (Sheila) Harrison of Warner Robins; brothers Mr. Luke (Betty) Kennedy of Thomaston; Mr. Jimmy (Beverly) Kennedy of Thomaston; sister Mrs. Geraldine Moon of Thomaston; daughter in law Mrs. Christina Lollar of Thomaston and 4 Grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday March 28th at 4:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Coggins Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Coggins Funeral Home on Friday March 27th from 6-8 p.m.

Mr. Jerry Lee Killingsworth

Mr. Jerry Lee Killingsworth, age 72, of Manchester, Georgia died on Tuesday March 24 at Providence Health and Rehab.

Mr. Killingsworth was born on May 4, 1942 in Pike County to the late Paul and Lois Killingsworth. He was formerly employed with Thomaston Mills Peerless Divison where he worked as the Payroll Manager. Mr. Killingsworth was a member of Harmony Church of The Nazarene and volunteered his time at Roosevelt Warm Springs Institute. He was preceded in death by his brothers Mr. Donald Webb and Mr. Gary Killingsworth.

Survivors include his wife Mrs. Carol Killingsworth of Manchester: brother Mr. Tony Killingsworth of Foley, Alabama: sisters Mrs. Paulette Couch of Butler: Mrs. Rose Mari Bailey of Thomaston. Several Nieces and Nephews also survive.

Graveside Services will be held on Thursday, March 26 at 2:00 p.m. from Meriwether Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Coggins Funeral Home on Wednesday March 25, from 6-8 p.m.

Mr. William "Ed" Crews

Mr. William Edward "Ed" Crews age 78 of Thomaston Ga, died Tuesday March 24 at Riverside Health and Rehab. 

Mr. Crews was born on December 24, 1936 in Thomaston to the late Royal and Inez Crews. He was formerly employed with Crews Manufacturing where he worked for many years. Mr. Crews served his country in the U.S. Air Force for 13 years. He was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Crews was the former Upson County Commissioner Chairman. He was preceded in death by his wife Mrs. Betty Bell Crews and son Mr. Mike Crews.

Survivors include his sons Mr. Chris Crews of Thomaston: Mr. Steve (Sheryl) Crews of Newnan: Mr. Mark (Karen) Crews of Charlotte North Carolina: brothers Mr. Joe (Mary Ann) Crews of Thomaston: Mr. Ray (Becky) Crews of Thomaston: sister Mrs. Donna Wheless of Thomaston. 11 Grandchildren. 6 Great Grandchildren.


Funeral Services will be held on Friday March 27, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. from the Chapel of Coggins Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Crystal Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Coggins Funeral Home on Thursday March 26 from 6-8 p.m.

Mr. Thomas Shepard

Mr. Thomas Shepard age 92 of Thomaston Ga, died Monday March 23, 2015 at Riverside Nursing Center. It was Mr. Shepard's wishes to be cremated.

Mr. Shepard was born on November 22, 1922 in Alabama to the late Jim and Linnie Shepard. He was formerly employed with Thomaston Mills where he worked for many years. Mr. Shepard served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps.

Survivors include his son Steven Shepard of Summit N.J, brother Alfred Shepard of Warner Robins Ga, James Shepard of Thomaston Ga, Frank Shepard of Thomaston Ga, sister Ruby Brown of Thomaston Ga, grandchildren Jacqueline Shepard, Joseph Shepard, nieces Becky Hemperly, Diane Thompson.

A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.

Mr. Thomas Frank Hammond, age 85, of Thomaston died Saturday March 21 at The Upson Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services for Mr. Hammond will be held Tuesday, March 24 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Coggins Funeral Home with burial to follow in Valley Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday, March 23 from 6:00-8:00 PM at Coggins Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested that donations be made to the Cemetery Maintenance Fund at Valley Grove Baptist Church, 1372 Atwater Rd, Thomaston, GA 30286.
